Duluth, MN (February 22, 2010) – In 2009, the Como Modified Series raised the bar on open wheel modified racing in the upper midwest with a generous $10,000-to-win year end purse, rewards and bonuses, fan contests, and unparalleled multimedia web production. In 2010, the series will follow that established path by adding an additional race in 2010 and increasing show payouts at many of the events.

“Every year I survey a lot of the drivers that race the Como Modified Series and try to base my improvements on those discussions,” stated Sr. Vice President & CFO of Como Oil and Propane and Series Director Joe Stariha. “One constant request was to increase the first four races’ $1,000 to win purses. This year I went back to the tracks and we were able to put together a deal to add $3,000 to the purse to make it a $1,500 to win purse for three races, keep the Governors Cup at $2,000 to win purse, and also add Ogilvie for a $2,000 to win purse which is $5,000 more than last year’s $1,000 to win purse.”

Ogilvie Raceway will be a new stop for the Como Modified Series, bringing the grand total to nine series events. Now in its second year of operation, the Central Minnesota speedplant will host the modified warriors of the Como Modified Series on July 21, 2010, paying $2,000-to-win. “Adding Ogilvie Raceway to our series was a no-brainer for me. This is a state of the art, brand new racing facility and we cant wait for our first race there in July. This hopefully will draw a few more southern cars up north for a couple races,” commented Stariha.

Continuing with the Como Modified Series, the tracks that have been a staple of the series return in their prospective dates for another year of high-paying, high-flying, open wheel action. Proctor Speedway in Proctor, MN, opens the season on May 30th and welcomes the series back on September 2nd for the Silver 1000. Hibbing Raceway in Hibbing, MN, brings the series in for a double dip on June 18 and 19 and then back in for the Labor Day Shootout on September 4th. Superior Speedway in Superior, WI, welcomes the series on August 4th and then a return date on September 11th for the Northern Nationals. ABC Raceway in Ashland, WI, invites the series for an August 7th date and will close out the season at the Red Clay Classic on October 1 and 2, 2010.

“We are always striving to provide opportunity for the open wheel modified stars of this area,” stated Stariha. “Adding a race, increasing purses, and working on more incentive based programs for these drivers and fun-filled events for our fans is our goal and it seems we have a solid growth pattern moving into our fifth year in 2010.”

In addition to the already burgeoning schedule and support that the Como Modified Series provides, a working agreement was established with the newly formed Race Minnesota Modified Series (RACEMN) to align organizations and work together on schedules and opportunities for the drivers that follow both series. More information will be released soon on incentive based programs for the 2010 season.

The 2010 Como Modified Series Schedule:

Proctor – Sunday May 30th
Hibbing – Friday & Saturday June 18th & 19th
Ogilvie – Wednesday July 21st
Superior – Wednesday August 4th

Sauk Centre, MN (August 11, 2009) – A new era in open wheel modified racing will debut in 2010 at Central Minnesota dirt tracks with the premise of increased pay and promotion to support the already strong product provided by the WISSOTA sanctioning body. The series will be called the Race Minnesota Modified Series (RACEMN) and will offer local tracks, drivers, and fans alike a national touring series type atmosphere showcasing regional talent in a high stakes shootout for top cash and prizes.

RACEMN is a name synonymous in the Upper Midwest first as a trade show in 2006, (sold to WISSOTA) more recently as a multimedia podcast hub promoting the talent of the Minnesota dirt tracks and sponsor of the Como Modified Series Dash. Ray Beste, a contributor to the website, approached the owners of RACEMN with a concept to support the tracks of Central Minnesota as a touring series and to incorporate the media elements and promotional tools that a website like RACEMN.com provides.

“It was a natural to work with the RACEMN name and X.CELERATED (XR) to get this off the ground,” commented Series Founder and Director Ray Beste. “I’ve had an opportunity to work with XR on multiple projects and they share the same vision. The talent around the area (WISSOTA) in the two open wheel divisions featured in this series in my mind is unmatched. These drivers deserve a touring series to showcase their talent and skills. In addition, we can offer the tracks a stout field of cars, massive promotion, and an unparalleled fan experience.”

“RACEMN now has a purpose like never before,” added X.CELERATED President and RACEMN Marketing Director Barry Braun. “The end goal is to join forces and promote these drivers on a national level scale with the media elements we have introduced on the site and other projects from our company to really make this series shine. In turn it will attract advertising partners to support the generous year-end purse and at-track activation.”

XR Apparel, a division of X.CELERATED, has jumped in as a presenting sponsor of the series and has been named the “Official Apparel Provider of the Race Minnesota Modified Series.” A title sponsor has been secured and will be announced at a later date.

The RACEMN Series will consist of both WISSOTA Modifieds and WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds. Seven Events will be run in 2010. All shows will count for National WISSOTA points. A race event will consist of Heat races, B Main Features, a Last Chance Qualifier, and the A-Main Feature event. The winner during each RACEMN event will be paid $1500 for the WISSOTA Modified feature and $600 for the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature. Each feature will start 21 cars.

RACEMN will use the established WISSOTA points system in addition to series based passing points that will be calculated for the A Main feature to insure against a series year end point tie. The RACEMN series points will be calculated from the best 5 of 7 races for every driver (driver can miss or “throw” two shows) and a loyalty bonus will be granted to all teams that attend every series event. Another innovative incentive to the drivers is that there will be no entry fees at any of the RACEMN events.

RACEMN has secured 4 of the 7 series races to be run at North Central Speedway in Brainerd, Minnesota, and Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, Minnesota.

“When presented the idea I couldn’t refuse,” added North Central Promoter Tim Boeder. “The RACEMN Series has the potential to be a major force in this part of the racing nation and the premise that they have built the series business model on is to offer extensive promotional support to the drivers and the track. In the end, it really was a no-brainer.”

“To be able to add two events like this for 2010 is exactly what we were looking for,” stated Ogilvie Raceway promoter Nate Fischer. “As a new track that is trying to break in, this offers us a high reward/low risk option that can help us thrive. We have the track to do it but we need the help that these guys will offer to make the most of our facility.”

The year end purse will total $20,000 and pay $5,000 to the WISSOTA Modified Series Point Champion as well as $2,500 to the WISSOTA Midwest Modified Champion. Additional cash and contingency prizes will be announced in the future to the event payouts and year end purse.

A complete rundown of a RACEMN event payout is as follows:

Duluth, MN – Dirt Nation, the online destination for dirt track racing fans to listen to and download interviews has undergone a name change to properly endorse the various technologies currently offered and those to be added in the future. The new name is Dirt Cast and the website has been moved to www.dirtcast.com.

The change, long in the planning stages at Dirt Nation, was ramped up due to increasing interest in the site in the past month and projected growth in the next calendar year. Dirt Cast offers the same functions as what was Dirt Nation and will be expanded on in the coming months. Dirt Cast offers On Demand Podcast interviews that can downloaded and played on your PC, played on the website, or listened to on Itunes. Live Broadcast dates will be released in the coming weeks in addition to the testing of live video throughout 2009 and increased functionality for accessing broadcasts, broadcast archives, podcasts, and premium content.

“It’s a natural transition,” stated Dave Seay, lead host of Dirt Cast. “We had planned the move to Dirt Cast, but it was not planned until the 4th quarter of 2009. The interest in the product in the last month has sped up our growth, and we are very excited to deploy even more options for our listeners.” Visitors to Dirt Cast have increased over 300% since the relaunch and transition to On Demand content in October of 2008. “Our goals for 2009 have already been shattered,” added Seay. “The opportunity to offer live broadcasts has opened new doors for Dirt Cast, and we plan to maximize the potential of this market.”

All of the links from Dirt Nation (www.dirtnation.net) have been forwarded to Dirt Cast. All branding, advertising, and social marketing are in transition and full brand revitalization will be complete by March 1, 2009. Potential advertisers are encouraged to contact dave@dirtcast.com for promotional opportunities.
